Serious panic anxiety attack symptoms affect one in every three adults. Many of those people will not seek the help that they need. Living with this level of anxiety can be challenging and can isolate people from society. Stress and situations that increase stress can bring on a panic attack at any time and you may not even know the cause of the attack. A panic anxiety attack is an extreme and sudden wave of intense fear and discomfort and will include at least four of these symptoms:
o Nausea
o Feeling like you are choking
o Cold chills and/or hot flashes
o Shortness of breath or the feeling of being smothered
o Shaking or trembling
o Pounding heartbeat
o Chest pain
o Dizziness or lightheadedness
o Numbness or tingling sensations
o A intense fear of dying
o The feeling that you are going crazy or losing touch with reality
An attack can come on quickly and will reach a peak that may last five or ten minutes before the symptoms begin to dissipate. People who have a panic disorder will change their behavior to “feel safe” and to try and prevent future attacks. This may include carrying items with them, like medication, having someone to accompany them at all times, and sitting near exits.
About fifty percent of people who have a panic issue also suffer from depression. People who have families with a history of anxiety or depression have a greater risk of developing panic attack disorder. Unfortunately, women are twice as likely as men to develop this disorder.
Everyone experiences some degree of anxiety in the normal course of every day life. It is when this anxiety is unreasonable and results in panic attacks that it becomes a problem. If left untreated, attacks can consume a person’s life. It may be the result of depression or a phobia, or the attacks can lead to depression or phobias. Sadly, many people do not explore treatment options and continued attacks may lead to suicide because a person feels they have no avenue to treat this condition and they can no longer live with its effects. They may withdraw from society, unable to hold a job, and become extremely isolated.
It is important to have a support system of family and friends that understand your panic disorder. Sometimes, when a family member or friend is close by when a panic attack begins, they may be able to reassure and diffuse the situation. It is important to build a toolbox of strategies that you can use to manage your disorder with the ultimate goal of managing your attacks. Some tools include muscle relaxation techniques, calm breathing and thinking realistically.
It is important to get the facts about your panic anxiety attack symptoms. Attacks will not cause you to lose control, faint, go crazy or die. You will feel that all of these things are going to happen, but if you can draw from your toolbox, you may be able to minimize the intensity of your panic attacks.

As a human being, it is normal that we feel anxious, worried, and fears from time to time due to the things that our complicated lives bring. Anxiety is just a part of life. It helps us cope with the stresses we may encounter. If you are in a state of anxiety, it is likely that you experience anxiety attack.
Anxiety attack is a sudden surge of overwhelming fear that comes without warning and without any apparent reason and this would usually last for no more than 10 minutes. It is far more intense than having anxiety or the feeling of being stressed out. One in every 75 people worldwide will experience an anxiety attack at one point in his/her life.
Most anxiety sufferers report fear of dying, going crazy or losing control of emotions as well as behavior. The incidents generally provoke a strong urge to escape or run away from the place where the attack begins, and they are associated with chest pain or shortness of breath, and feeling of impending doom
A person with a phobia will often experience an anxiety attack as a direct result to the hung-up trigger. These anxiety attacks are brief and quickly relieved once the trigger is escaped. In the conditions of chronic anxiety, one anxiety attack can usually turn into another one, leading to a nervous fatigue over a period of days.

-Tingling and/or numbness in the face
-Dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions (de-realization)
-Disassociation, the perception that one is not connected to the body and time.
-Fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing
-Fear of dying
-Feeling of impending doom
-Crying, associated to the above symptoms
Anxiety attack usually last for several minutes and is considered one of the most disturbing condition that anyone can live through in everyday life. The way to understand the different symptoms of anxiety attack is: first, comes the sudden jolt of fear with less or no triggering motivation, and then this will lead to a release of adrenaline (epinephrine), which causes the supposed fight-or-flight response, where the person’s body prepares for major physical activity. This results to an increased heart rate, labored breathing or hyperventilation, and sweating. The diaphragm, involved in the action of the lungs, is also a muscle and it can become overly tight. When there is continuous, inferior anxiety, a person frequently works too hard when breathing. However, if there is hyperanxiety or an anxiety attack, there is overwhelming excitement, and a person may hyperventilate.
Because strenuous activity hardly ever arises, the hyperventilation leads to carbon dioxide levels lowering in the lungs and then the blood, resulting to the shift in the pH of the blood, which will then lead to many of the other symptoms, such as tingling or numbness, dizziness, and lightheadedness.
Anxiety attack is a serious condition, but before you start thinking if you have this condition and go running to see a doctor, stop and take a deep breath! Relax before you start having an anxiety attack, even if you actually don’t have it. Don’t take things too hard for it may lead to something serious and may affect your daily routine. Take things lightly. In any case, if you think you have this condition, the first thing you should do is see a doctor. If you are diagnosed with anxiety attack condition, appropriate medication and good counseling can bring your life to normal again. Otherwise, tell yourself to relax and continue to live your life to the fullest.

If you are reading this article because you think you may have experienced an anxiety attack symptom, read on. Many people go through some form of anxiety in their lives at some stage brought on by a myriad of reasons. Take my case for example. I went through marital problems several years ago and yes, it affected me. As a professional broadcaster I call live sports action on a regular basis. I first met “Mr. Anxiety Attack” midway through the broadcast of a sporting event. It scared the heck out of me! When I got home all I wanted to know was what I went through so I set up an appointment with my doctor.
Describing what took place he calmly nodded his head and simply said…”You had an anxiety attack.”
“A what!” I retorted. “An anxiety attack? No way!”
Then I asked him to explain what an anxiety attack is in plain language. This was the short definition… “Basically an anxiety attack is simply a strong, intense sensation which creates fear in a person. In fact, in many cases the person can actually feel they may be dying.”
So there it was. Luckily for me, it was the only brush with anxiety I had experienced but for many, it’s symptoms are a constant bane in their lives. I took action immediately. Many don’t and this is mystifying. If you suffer the symptoms on a regular basis and have not sought medical advice then you should really consider doing so. You see, even though you are sure you’re experiencing anxiety attack symptoms there is still the possibility another more serious condition may have been masked.
The Symptoms
A pounding heart is a classic tell tale symptom of anxiety attack. So is shortness of breath… that’s what affected me most. Many people report a lightheaded or faint feeling while most will tell you they have an overwhelming fear of losing control. This symptom is usually experienced following the others.
The Cause
An actual cause is hard to determine. Perhaps the cause of anxiety attack symptoms is simply the body’s way of reacting to any overwhelming feeling. Stressful episodes in people’s lives or medical conditions or medication; no one really knows but if you suffer attacks regularly then there may be something more sinister at work and you should seek medical advice.
